Sony PSPgo

Sony's PlayStation Portable receives an Apple-esque makeover - for a price

Attractive slide-screen interface, 16GB inbuilt memory, light, digital distribution - the future of gaming

PSP control issues still remain, too expensive, game downloads cost the same as the 'real' thing

The PSPgo is a significant evolution of the Sony PlayStation Portable that impresses on almost every level. Unfortunately, its prohibitive price tag is difficult to overlook -- particularly when compared to the PSP 3000, which will be sold alongside...

Sony PSP Go: first look

In essence the Sony PSP Go is a Mylo with the keyboard ripped out and replaced by game controls. Indeed, we wouldn't be too surprised if Sony used most of the scrapped cases from that funky, defunct device. But we digress. After spending some time with...

Feels great to hold, sliding mechanism is firm ;

Too early to make a definitive judgement ;

The Sony PSP Go will be priced at $US249 (around $300 Australian), in October when they are due to be released in the states, Europe and Asian markets

Sony PSP Go

We love its slimmer, sexier, more pocket-friendly shape, as well as its pause and restore anywhere feature, but the PSP Go doesn't quite add enough to the mix to justify its price tag.

Mr Pocket please meet PSP ; Heeeey there good lookin ; Light, yet sturdy ; Pause and restore games anywhere ; UMD gone

but leaves upgraders in a lurch ; Hip pocket nerve winces in pain ; More fingerprints than an episode of CSI ; No 802.11g/n, DivX, Xvid support ; Shoulder buttons easy to hit accidentally

In the US, they're bemoaning the Go's price of US$249 (AU$288), an US$80 (AU$92) or a 47 per cent jump up from the PSP-3000. We think they've got it good, though, because in this great brown land the Go will retail for AU$449, a staggering AU$200 or 80...

Free Games With PSPgo Rewards

Sony's slimline PSPgo comes packed with 16GB of built-in storage space – meaning that you can take all your favourite games, photos etc, but are reminded that you cannot play UMD discs on the new unit.
