Wii U review: Remains a great family system with some limits

There are a lot of ways to play video games right now: older game consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, current-gen systems like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, handhelds, PC games, and even phone and tablet games. And then there's Nintendo: a...

An included tablet-style GamePad can play games when the TV is in use; Nintendo has a core library of awesome exclusive titles; works with older Wii games and accessories; very kid-friendly. Access to a vault of your childhood classics. Off-TV play is...

Can't play DVDs or Blu-rays; lacks a lot of third-party games available on Xbox or PlayStation; GamePad battery life too short; Wii U and 3DS handheld don't share games. On-board storage is severely lacking; Wii U interface is still way behind other...

The Wii U has shaken off some of its initial growing pains to become a superior kid and family console, with a limited but excellent lineup of exclusive games you won't find anywhere else.

Nintendo Wii U review

Are the unique points of the Wii U enough to make it a serious contender against the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?

Nintendo Wii U review

Two E3s ago we got hands-on with the Nintendo Wii U when it was just a fledgling concept. We liked it a lot. However, the landscape has changed somewhat since then, with everyone from Sony to Apple having a pop at second-screen gaming. With the next...

Ultimately, the Wii U is a potential-packed system that plays like a dream and at a decent, if not recession-proof, price. An obvious upgrade for Wii owners as it utilises a lot of the hardware you’ll already have, it’s the clear attempt to entice...

Nintendo Wii U

I personaly love my Wii U and I can see so much potential in it's future.

Off screen play for most games, Async multiplayer is incredibly addictive, 5 player games, will be home to the best party games and local multiplayer in town

No unified voice chat approach yet, still waiting for a steady release of games, the large range of controller options is a blessing and a curse, no DLNA (yet)

Up next to the GameCube and PS2 as one of my favourite consoles ever.

First off, it's been out for a couple of years now and it's got a pretty phenomenal range of games - not a lot from companies like EA (whose work I've never cared much for anyway), but tons of exclusives that are beautiful and really polished:...
