Sony KD-75XE9405

The Sony KD-75XE9405 review: a stunning home cinema display for a seriously tempting price. You may want to clear some space first, though.

Gorgeous HDR and SDR picture quality ; Strong value for what’s on offer ; Space-saving design (for a 75-inch TV!)

Limited effective viewing angle ; Android TV is still clunky ; Occasional slight silhouetting effect with HDR

The Sony KD-75XE9405 is a stunning home cinema display for a seriously tempting price.

Sony's first 4K HDR LCD TV of the year is a resounding success...

Gorgeous 4K HDR picture quality ; Convincing black depth ; Clear and solid sound quality ; Support for Dolby Vision and HLG ; Netflix and Amazon in 4K HDR ; Excellent features and design

More black detail wouldn’t go amiss ; Interface response times could be faster

Sony XE93 4K TV review: Latest picture tech unlocks HDR thrills

The XE93 unlocks all the thrills the very latest picture technologies have to offer while also effortlessly taking yesterday's pictures to places

Its incredibly bright and colourful pictures make high dynamic range sources look spectacular ; Supports a wide range of HDR formats ; Slim Backlight Drive technology is greatly improved from last year’s debut

Can sometimes see backlight clouds around stand-out bright objects ; Screen’s effective viewing angle is limited ; Android TV continues to feel pretty ham-fisted ; Gaming lag could be better too

While not even its cutting-edge Backlight Drive technology can completely solve LCD's issues with controlling light with HDR content, the 55XE9305 nonetheless improves hugely in just about every way on the efforts of its 2016 predecessor.

Sony BRAVIA XE94 (KD-75XE9405) review

Say hello to 2017's finest LCD TV

Good value ; Outstanding picture quality ; Quietly stylish design ; Dolby Vision HDR support

Android TV’s a pain ; Rather reflective screen ; Limited effective viewing angle ; Occasional HDR ‘silhouetting’

Aside from its use of the clunky Android TV smart platform, there’s pretty much nothing about this 75-inch TV we don’t like. It fills its huge, cinematic screen with stunning pictures in both high and standard dynamic range modes, it looks stylish for...

Sony Bravia 55XE93 (KD-55XE9305) review

Sony turns to the bright side using its Slim Backlight Drive

Blisteringly bright HDR images ; Stunningly rich colours ; Much-improved sound quality ; Superb HD upscaling

Blooming around bright objects ; Android TV is cumbersome ; Runs sluggishly at times ; Very limited viewing angle

Android TV continues to frustrate, and there’s a backlight clouding price to pay for the TV’s high brightness levels. That said, the 55XE9305 nonetheless improves on Sony’s 2016’s Slim Backlight Drive models in every way, delivering in the process some...

Sony Bravia XBR-65X930E review

High-end tech trickles down

Impressive HDR upscaling ; Local dimming much improved ; Full suite of HDR standards supported

Edge-lit local dimming ; Likely to be pricey

Sony's X930E manages to fit several features found on Sony's higher-end ZD9 into a much more mid-range offering, with some results that, from initial inspection, look very promising indeed.

Sony Bravia XE94 (KD75XE9405) review: The 75in TV to rule them all

A monstrous 75in screen combines with deft HDR presentation and fantastic image processing – the Sony XE94 is a top-end TV to lust after

Class-leading 4K upscaling ; High peak brightness makes for stunning HDR ; 256-zone full-array local dimming performs superbly

Limited viewing angles ; Slow response time ; 1080P input lag is a little high

The KD-75XE9405 delivers an immersive big-screen experience that should rank among the best in 2017. Sony's LCD-making know-how has pulled together a raft of top-rung specifications that impress across the board, and especially when it comes to HDR....

Sony Bravia KD-55XE9305 (XE93) review: A taste of the high-end for less

Sony's XE93 takes the HDR wizardry of the £4,000 ZD9 and transplants it into a 55in frame – the results are seriously impressive, too

Spectacular HDR presentation ; First-rate upscaling ; Triple-play HDR support (pending firmware update)

Blooming/haloing in dark scenes & inconsistent letterbox bar shading ; Limited viewing angles ; 1080p gaming responsiveness could be better

If you’ve been lusting after Sony’s £4,000 ZD9, then the XE93 could be just what your wallet (or more likely your overdraft) has been hoping for. With triple-play HDR support, spectacular HDR image quality and superlative upscaling, this is a...

Sony X93E (XE93)

The new TV line-ups are usually released in spring and XE94 is one of the first 2017 TVs to emerge. With X93E (XE93 in Europe) Sony is launching a high-end TV with +1000 nits for HDR, improved Slim Backlight Drive+, the Extreme picture processor, and...

Higher peak brightness for HDR ; DCI-P3 support and more local dimming zones ; Picture processing ; Best Motion system

Narrow viewing angles ; Halos" around glowing objects ; Some bleeding/clouding issues ; Average input lag

Sony X93E compares to last year’s X93D in some areas but introduces upgrades in others. The 65" is slightly thicker but Sony has found room for the power supply inside, which is a trade-off that we will happily make. The 55" still has an external power...
