Amazon Echo Buds review: takes on AirPods with better sound, Bose noise cancelling, zero style

So… £120 for Echo Buds with Alexa and noise cancelling or £160 for AirPods with Siri and no noise cancelling? Not a hard choice, if you don't mind the basic looks…

With Bose's noise cancelling on, they sound as good as any other true wireless bud at this price – and some pricier ones too ; Fit is secure enough for most purposes and pretty comfy ; Voice calls and Alexa work well thanks to quality mics ; Battery...

Don't really have any style as such ; Battery case is on the chunky side ; Optional 'wing' tips are rubbish

Amazon Echo review: Amazon's main Echo gets cheaper, Alexa gets better

While Alexa is improving all the time and the Echo is great value for money, those looking for top-notch audio quality will be disappointed

Great music and list making ; You can shop through it ; Best. Kitchen timer. Ever.

Very middling as a speaker ; Lots of clonky apps ; Echo Dot is better value

Amazon Echo review

The world has changed since Amazon introduced its first smart speaker in 2014. Back then, the Echo was something of an oddity -- a bookshelf speaker made interactive and, remarkably, truly useful through Amazon's voice-activated Alexa virtual...

Amazon's voice-activated smart home speaker is undeniably futuristic, but it's also practical and accessible. With a rapidly growing slate of features, integrations and use cases, it's easy to get excited about the Echo's potential.

The Echo's sound quality is slightly uneven at times, with weak bass at high volumes. It also can't distinguish between different voices like the Google Home smart speaker can.

More than two years after its debut, the smarter-than-ever Amazon Echo remains one of the best connected home products money can currently buy.

Amazon Echo review: listen up

"Alexa, what's the weather today?" "ALEXA! What's the weather today?" "ALEXA WHAT IS THE WEATHER TODAY GODDAMMIT." "Right now, in New York it's 25 degrees with clear skies and sun. Today's forecast...

Fast and simple to interact with ; Impressive mic and hearing range ; Joke-telling game is strong

Way too finicky ; Sometimes Alexa just ignores you ; Needs a real ecosystem outside of Amazon

Amazon Echo (2014) review

Amazon Echo is stunning, sleek and slowly becoming more sentient

Intelligent voice recognition ; Large ecosystem and growing ; Well built

Caters to Prime ; Lackluster sound quality ; Multi-user support lacking

As purely a Bluetooth speaker, the Echo leaves a lot to be desired. Paired with a natural, engrossing AI, however, Amazon's grand experiment in artificial intelligence is one of the most interesting gadgets of recent years.

Amazon Echo 3rd generation (2019) review: Another solid improvement

The same sound quality as the Echo Plus for £50 less

Unbeatable sound quality in this price bracket ; Alexa sounds a bit more human ; Great price

Alexa is still dimmer than Google Assistant

The first Amazon Echo launched at £149, and the second managed to knock £60 off the price tag. This year’s Echo maintains the price, but matches the sound quality of the £139 Echo Plus: that feels like a good compromise to me. In short, this remains...
