Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II A3+ inkjet photo printer

Canon's entry-level A3 photo printer delivers great output but is expensive to run

Great photo print quality, CD/DVD printing, reasonably quick

Expensive consumables, lack of colour configuration options, won't support heavy stock media

Canon's PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II A3+ inkjet photo printer is an easy way to print high-resolution photos as well as CD and DVD labels at home. However, with expensive consumables and a lack of configuration options, more expensive printers are actually...

Canon Pixma Pro9000 review: Canon Pixma Pro9000

Canon Pixma Pro9000

Excellent color and black-and-white prints; fast printing; accepts paper sizes up to 13x19 inches; can clean nozzles for subset of colors.

Dye prints don't last as long as those made with pigment inks; large footprint; no card reader.

If you don't mind the shorter display life of dye-based prints or the paper choices offered by Canon, the Pixma Pro9000 makes an excellent choice for a medium-format inkjet printer.

REVIEW—CANON PIXMA Pro9000 MkII]

This printer will make borderless photo prints up to A3+ on a variety of paper types and printable CD labels. Print resolution is 4800 x 2400 dpi from 2 picolitre print-head technology using eight Chromalife 100 ink cartridges. Print speed is about 83...

The picture quality from the Pr09000 is excellent. Black and white prints on Canon’s best glossy paper are superb with rich blacks, free of any hint of colour cast. Sharpness and resolution are exemplary. We prefer a good dye ink printer like this to a...

The demand for desktop real estate is going to be the deal breaker for many potential customers. We were thinking of replacing our venerable Pixma i9950 with the Pro9000 but we don’t know where we would put it. Of course you are not obliged to use the...

Highly recommended, if you have the space.

Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II Printer

An update to Canon's popular PIXMA Pro9000 dye ink desktop A3+ printer for photographers who wish to produce durable, exhibition quality prints.Although originally scheduled for release in July, it was late October before we received the PIXMA Pro9000...

Ink cartridges for the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II are slightly cheaper than for the Pro9500 II and by shopping around you can buy them for as low as $26.77 compared with the RRP of around $30. At the RRP, a complete set of cartridges is valued at around $240.

REVIEW—CANON PIXMA Pro9000 printer ]

This printer is the top of Canon's domestic range. It produces prints up to A3+ (329x483mm) and uses Chromalife 100 inks in eight separate cartridges. It prints labels onto printable CD/DVD blanks using the supplied software and disc tray. Setup and...

When the supplied software is installed a Photoshop Plug-in is setup that appears in the File/Automate menu as Easy-Photoprint Pro. Using this plug-in is the easiest way to set all the correct variables for printing. It is simply a matter of selecting...

The ink cartridges are expensive. The best street price we could find is $24. With eight cartridges the cost of consumables is an important consideration in purchasing. Don’t be tempted by third party substitutes. To get the best out of this...

The printer represents excellent value for money. Canon has a wide range of paper types, including double-sided paper and a new style of fine art rag paper that has a matte, textured surface and produces prints with a pastel appearance. We tried the...
