Fast, impressive photos on plain paper, high-capacity input trays

Confusing paper-tray design, orangey cast to photos on special paper

Pumpkin-coloured people aside, the Canon Pixma MX700 is, overall, one of the strongest multifunction packages we've seen to date. It stuffs a lot of functions into a fairly user-friendly package and offers scads of software to help you along.

Canon Pixma MX700 review: Canon Pixma MX700

Canon Pixma MX700

Fast print and copy speeds; great print and scan quality; ADF; two paper sources; preview LCD; memory card slots and PictBridge port.

Scan speeds are just OK; lacks advanced fax features; PictBridge port can't be used for USB flash or HDD devices; no duplexer.

The Canon Pixma MX700 is a great choice for small offices with a wide variety of print tasks. This inkjet multifunction beats out the competition with a winning combination of features and performance.

This is one of the worst scanners on the market. Impossible to scan as a pdf file, scans too loght as a jpeg file, no on the fly darkening. Cannon is too large of a company to care about the small end users.

The manual says 28# is max paper weight. I want to print card stock and other stock to 60#. Is this OK? Will it damage the printer?

Canon Pixma MX700

Happy with product in most respects. As our phone line is shared between phone, broadband and now fax, I decided - after comments from other users and testing - to use the Telstra Duet service ($6/month) to automate fax reception by ring pattern...

Very good print quality, quiet, good screen, smooth, copying and scanning good, quick to get ready to work

Getting fax to work; some anomalies in instructions, a little bulky, wireless capability would be handy

Re: My earlier comment, it appears that the problem was the new USB cable. This reinforces the comments of others regarding non-supply of a cable with the unit. Such supply would avoid this problem.

Works well once able to set up. Haven't had a chance to trial Fax as yet

Quality printer USB cable not supplied. Unclear that both discs need to be used for PC set up (second disc not just for Mac.)
