Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 review: The iPhone of laptops

The new MacBook Pro 13-inch features Apple's new M1 chip, making these laptops more like iPhones than traditional laptops.

M1 is insanely fast ; Beautiful display, as always ; Fantastic battery life ; Speakers sound brilliant ; Top-notch keyboard and trackpad

Only two Thunderbolt ports ; Touch Bar is still frustrating

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) review

Apple's little MacBook Pro gets a big refresh

Huge battery life ; Great performance ; Can run iOS apps ; Magic Keyboard feels great

Design remains the same ; Still lacks ports

The MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) is the most exciting laptop Apple has released in years. The new M1 chip offers exceptional battery life, and in our early testing performance has been excellent. It's just a shame about the old design.

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) review: Apple's most ambitious laptop yet

The new MacBook Pro M1 13-inch is a portable powerhouse aimed at creative professionals, with Apple's revolutionary M1 chip

Excellent performance ; Long battery life ; Can run older Mac apps ; Thin and light

Lack of ports ; Design is getting old

Sleek, long-lasting and mightily powerful, the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) puts Apple's new M1 chip to brilliant use. This is an excellent showcase for what Apple hardware can do, and if you're a creative professional that wants a portable...

Apple MacBook Pro 13-Inch (M1, Late 2020) Review

Long battery life ; Speedy performance from Apple M1 chip ; Brilliant Retina display ; Excellent build quality ; Comfortable keyboard and trackpad ; Improved webcam

Only two USB-C ports ; Stingy standard 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM ; No touch screen

Now powered by Apple’s M1 CPU, the 13-inch MacBook Pro remains a workhorse for those who want a compact macOS laptop that's still powerful enough to perform processor-intensive workflows.

Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) review

The 13-inch MacBook Pro gets even more powerful

Stellar overall and gaming performance ; Excellent battery life ; Lightning-fast SSD ; Great webcam ; Comfortable keyboard ; macOS Big Sur is a nice update

Not enough ports ; Thick bezels

Armed with Apple’s new M1 SoC, the MacBook Pro brings power, endurance and a host of new features in that familiar iconic chassis.

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1 processor) review: The start of something new

We've been using the new MacBook Pro with M1 processor to find out how it performs. Are there any problems? Is the battery that much better?

Fast and powerful - and paves the way for Apple silicon future ; No obvious issues with multi-tiered app operation - it just works ; Super battery life ; Great screen

Design hasn't changed - and looks a little tired ; No new features beyond the new processor ; Only up to 16GB of RAM ; Touch Bar still not a must-have ; Just the two ports

This feels like the start of something impressive thanks to new Apple silicon in the M1 processor - which results in lots of power and impressive battery life. It will be fascinating to see not only where Apple goes next, but how the industry responds.

Apple MacBook Pro 13in with M1 (2020) review

We go Mac to the future with the M1 chip – but not this notebook's design

Speedy and responsive ; Display remains first-class ; Battery lasts for ages ; Mostly whisper quiet

Design starting to age ; Limited connectivity ; Webcam isn’t that great ; Dare we say it: no touchscreen

We’d love two more Thunderbolt ports and a redesign, but colour us surprised the entry level MacBook Pro has this much to offer.

M1 Apple MacBook Pro 13in (2020) review: This laptop will change the world

An almost unbelievably good laptop, the Apple Silicon M1 MacBook is here and nothing is ever going to be the same again

Fast and responsive (even under emulation) ; Reasonably priced ; Astonishing battery life ; Runs iOS apps

Compatibility issues with some software

Finally, to the verdict, and it’s a pretty easy one to give. If you’re in the market for a new laptop and you have around £1,300 to spend – and assuming you’ve checked that it will run all the software you require – there is no other laptop that comes...

MacBook Pro M1 review: Apple amazes with its first Silicon MacBook Pro Review | ZDNet

If you're looking for a fresh design, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for killer performance, long battery life and broad app support, you'll be hard-pressed to find fault with Apple's inaugural M1-based MacBook Pro.

Fast and powerful ; Long battery life ; All around app support ; Improve camera, despite still 720p

Some iPad apps need an update ; Same design will be tired for some ; Can get pricey with upgrade options ; Caps out at 16GB
