Panasonic VDR-D300

 

The Panasonic VDR-D300 doesn't force you to compromise video quality for convenience.

Decent low-light performance ; Vibrant colour ; Solid battery life ; Acceptable still quality

Optical zoom is only 10x ; No analogue input ; No video light

Still images had good colour but lacked sharpness in heavily textured areas. In particular, indoor shots with flash had a noticeably fuzzy quality to them. Overall, still quality is decent -- acceptable for candid shooting, but you wouldn't want to use...

This is a great value DVD camcorder considering the 3CCD's and DVD writing capability with excellent video quality. Although not initially impressed with the fact that finalising of disks requires the power supply to be connected, I found that many...

Great video quality. Easy to use. Above average battery life. Convenience of DVD storage media

Only 10x zoom. Need to finalise disks using power supply only (no battery finalising). Using LCD screen inverted as light source not very efficient

"Quick, good to excellent quality"

 

The only downside so far is that the AC adaptor needs to be connected to transfer stills from the CD card or to finalise the -R/-RW discs.
