GoPro Hero4 Session review: enduring the unforgiving New Zealand terrain

It's significantly smaller and lighter, but how well does it record video?

One of the smallest and lightest action cameras around ; Proficient video recording ; Easy user interface ; Waterproof to 10 metres without housing ; Strong range of mounts that don't add much bulk to its size

No still-photo mode directly from the camera ; Can accidentally activate the wrong mode ; Expensive

GoPro Hero4 Session review: GoPro squares off against competitors with the Session

The cube-shaped Session is the smallest, lightest GoPro yet, and is the first to go waterproof without a housing.

The GoPro Hero4 Session addresses the main design sticking points with previous GoPro cameras: It's smaller, lighter and waterproof without a housing; the new shape allows for more flexible mounting; it's fast to start/stop recording; and its new mic...

The built-in battery means no swapping out for a fresh pack to keep shooting. It needs to be wirelessly connected to Android/iOS device or GoPro remote (not included) to change settings.

GoPro sheds its housing for the Hero4 Session, an excellent POV camera that's ready to capture what the day brings -- in or out of the water -- at the press of a button.

Review: GoPro Hero4 Session

GoPro is the go-to name in action cameras. So much so that, as with Hoover and Kleenex, many people just say "GoPro” when they're talking about action cams, regardless of which company actually builds them.

"The video may not be absolutely mind-blowing, but it’s as good as it needs to be – and the real selling point of the Session is its size and weight."

Nice and affordable sports camera

A great camera for the price as it has all of the features you typically would need, but much cheaper than the higher end Go Pros. Easy to set up and get running and a very tough camera. My only knocks would be that when synched with your phone it...
